POSITION #882: Adult Education Orientation Coordinator - Jasper Campus


APPROXIMATE STARTING DATE: December 2021


GENERAL INFORMATION:
Bevill State Community College is an accredited, learning-centered institution dedicated to student success by providing quality educational and training opportunities that enrich lives intellectually, economically, and culturally.


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree preferred.


SALARY RANGE: Minimum $27,139 - maximum $54,279 based on experience and educational level for placement on the Alabama State Salary Schedule D3.


DUTIES:
In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State Community College Personnel Handbook and the ACCS and Board of Trustees, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1.Assist the Director of Adult Education in monitoring Program performance with respect to accountability standards for the purpose of
continual Program improvement.
2.Utilize valid, reliable assessment and reassessment to determine the instructional needs of adult learners.
3.Provide instruction in literacy, adult basic education, GED test preparation, English language acquisition, family literacy, integrated English
Literacy and civics education, integrated education, and training, including career pathways, workplace education, and
workforce preparation, including the National Career Readiness Certificate, and Ready-to-Work (RTW) skills integration.
4.Use lesson plans aligned with CCR Standards that integrate instruction across content areas.
5.Use formal and informal assessment data to monitor and document student progress.
6.Collect and manage accurate data for Program improvement and accountability.
7.Participate in the retention and follow-up of students.
8.Maintain knowledge of program regulations, policies, and procedures.
9.Enter and maintain new and existing student data within a computerized management information system (MIS) mandated by the
federal Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
10.Assist the Director of Adult Education in the supervision of staff within a specific geographical region.
11.Establish a respectful, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
12.Provide ongoing faculty support and guidance.
13.Maintain working partnerships with providers of support services and with the larger literacy community.
14.Make referrals to community agencies or postsecondary institutions as appropriate.
15.Advocate adult education at the local and state level and explains the impact of under-education on employment and society.
16.Assess adult education needs and promotes program in community.
17.Promote use of community resources and participate in activities of other community agencies.
18.Assist the Director of Adult Education in the development and implementation of an intake and orientation process that clarifies student
and program goals and expectations and ensures appropriate placement within the Program.
19.Participate in required professional development activities, including attendance at the Annual Adult Education Summer Conference,
receiving a minimum of 10 clock hours of PD per Program Year, with 5 of the 10 hours being structured coursework.
Instructors with a continued pattern of being either unable or unwilling to attend mandatory staff development
opportunities should not be considered for further employment in adult education and family literacy and shall not be
reimbursed from funds allocated under this subtitle.
20.Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
21.Assist the Director of Adult Education in developing written Program policies.
22.Ensure the facilities within a specific geographical region are conducive to adult learning.
23.Assist the Director of Adult Education in ensuring the Program commits adequate resources to the acquisition of textbooks, computer-
based instructional programs, and other instructional materials.
24.Provide the Director of Adult Education all needed information in a timely manner.
25.Support state and national adult education and literacy advocacy organizations.
26.Assume all other duties assigned by the Director of Adult Education.
