Reporting to the Business Services Coordinator, the Sr. Fiscal and Program Technician provides financial and administrative support for the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics (BEAM). Responsibilities will include assisting faculty with making travel arrangements and processing reimbursements, ordering supplies and equipment, and providing general administrative assistance to assigned faculty, instructors, and graduate students. This position will also provide financial assistance across the Department and will assist faculty and staff with grant administration, updating financial and salary worksheets, assist with departmental reconciliations, prepare journal entries, run and prepare financial reports, prepare and process labor redistributions, and reconcile and resolve outstanding encumbrance issues involving accounts payables and travel. This position will also assist with cash handling/deposits, leave reports, Time Clock Plus, records management and fixed assets/inventory administration.
Required Qualifications
-Previous experience providing financial and administrative support in a professional setting
-Previous experience performing fiscal duties in a professional setting including AP/AR, travel arrangements and reimbursements, journal entries and reconciliations
-Previous experience working with large enterprise database systems involving financial information.
-Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
-Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse constituencies both internally and externally
Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree
-Previous higher education experience
-Previous experience working with grant administration in a university setting
-Experience with Banner, MicroStrategy, TEM, Time Clock Plus, and Fixed Assets system
-Familiarity with VT policies and procedures
