Opiod Treatment Program/410 is an outpatient program for opiate dependent clients, providing medication therapy, medical and bio-psychological assessment and treatment planning, individual and group therapy, Chemical Dependency education and education on related topics, activities of daily living therapy, medical follow up and continued care planning.

 

The position of the registered professional nurse (RN) within the Chemical Dependency Treatment Service Line will be responsible to play a vital role within the multidisciplinary team caring for the chemically dependent patient seeking opiate treatment, at the Opioid Treatment Program at 410 South Crouse - Crouse Hospital.  The registered professional nurse will provide service via intake, patient assessment and medication administration as well as attending bi-weekly staffing to present patient updates, for the adult population receiving treatment.  The registered professional nurse will work within the parameters of the Medical Director and or attending physician as well as NP.  The registered professional nurse will function within the State and Federal guidelines as directly pertaining to the protocol for patient participation within the clinic as well as medication administration.  The registered professional nurse will display competency as directly related to the medication/clinical documentation system within the clinic.  The registered professional nurse will display cultural competency and apply this to all patient care initiatives.  The registered professional nurse will be responsible to administer and interpret PPD tests and Breathalyzer tests and record results within the computerized documentation system and performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Job Requirements 

Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.  Minimum of one (1) years Medical/Surgical nursing experience. Valid New York State driver's license is required.  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 2 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of the hire date, if deemed necessary for the position based on the scope of the assigned role. 

Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Addiction or mental health education and/or training preferred (completion of a mental health/psych rotation at an accredited school of nursing may count toward this requirement).
