Industrial Pretreatment Inspector

The Industrial Pretreatment Inspector position involves a broad range of technical duties associated with the oversight of wastewater discharge by industrial facilities into publically owned treatment systems.

Essential Job Functions: • Performs all industrial on-site facility inspections, which includes discharge records, MSDS files, process lines, chemical storage, and pretreatment units. Updates industrial user inventory and FOG contributors through inspections and mailings. • Performs all industrial sampling events, including the installation of automatic samplers in monitoring manholes at the industrial site for collection of flow, time based composite samples, or grab samples. • Performs collection system inspections on industrial and commercial regions of the collection system. • Maintains field sampling, monitoring, and inspection records. • Identifies and analyzes, through sampling and flow monitoring, sources and concentrations of pollutants determining the possible impact on the POTW and provides recommendations to effectively pre-treat the industrial waste stream.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED. A valid Ohio Driver’s license with a safe driving record and a drug screening are required. One (1) year experience as a Wastewater Industrial Pretreatment Inspector Trainee or equivalent is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applicants should have; general knowledge of wastewater treatment; be able to conduct inspections for industrial facilities; good written and oral communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of setting samplers along with the collection and preservation of the samples is ideal. This position will require physical labor including but not limited to removal of manhole covers and placing samplers with a weight at times exceeding fifty pounds. This position requires emergency call out at all hours including weekends and holidays.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Starting: $18.25/hour (no OEPA Class I license) or $20.50/ hour - $27.71/hour/ (with OEPA Class I License)

Additional Premium: • OEPA Wastewater Treatment Class I License: $1.00/hour • OEPA Wastewater Treatment Class II License: $1.25/hour.
