Summary

Be a part of King County Parks! The King County Parks mission is to serve communities and enhance regional quality of life through stewardship of parks, trails, facilities, and public open space in the King County region. Our system consists of more than 200 parks, 175 miles of regional trails, 130 miles of backcountry trails, and 26,000 acres of open space.
 
We are seeking temporary staff to assist with customer service in the Marymoor Park office.  Staff will provide information to park patrons, assist with parking pass and concert ticket sales, process parking violations, other office duties and daily cash reconciliation.  This position may also assist with fee collection duties during large events, counting and banking revenue.  Individuals must be able to work both independently and as part of an overall staff team. This position requires the ability to work courteously and appropriately with the public in a variety of situations. This temporary position has a varied work schedule and requires working evenings and weekends if assisting with events.

WORK LOCATION:  Marymoor Park located at 6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE in Redmond, WA.

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule for this position is flexible; primarily weekdays.  Schedule can include collecting fees at event requiring weekends and late evening work.  This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is overtime eligible.

Job Duties

Candidates may perform some or all of the duties described below

  • Provide customer service to park customers via in-person, email, phone
  • Sell daily or seasonal parking passes
  • Provide information on concerts and sell concert tickets
  • Process parking violations and payments
  • Reconcile daily cash received and prepare deposit for banking
  • Collect parking fees from vehicles entering assigned event parking lots
  • Reconcile all cash received at booth and for event parking against the value of parking tickets sold and justify any discrepancies. 
  • Assist at special events as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • At least two years of customer service experience
  • Familiarity in working in a business office
  • Basic math skills with an understanding of general accounting procedures. 
  • Demonstrates skill in providing and following oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service to a diverse customer base. 
  • Skill in communicating clearly and respectfully. 
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with other employees.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Data entry experience desired.
 
Physical Requirements: 
  • If working as event cashier, ability to work evenings, weekends, and split-shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Event Cashiers must have the ability to stand for up to three hours at a time, out-of-doors, in all weather conditions. 
Necessary Special Requirements:
An offer of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a criminal background check.
