Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Recovery Specialist in the Carlson Recovery Center program at Behavioral Health Network! 

 

**NOTICE**

In accordance with the BHN Mandatory COVID vaccine policy - all staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated no later than day one of employment. Medical or religious exemptions will be offered and must be approved prior to starting work.

The same guidelines noted above apply during flu season (defined as December 1st – through end of flu season as announced by the CDC) for BHN’s Mandatory Influenza Vaccine policy.

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Carlson Recovery Center program with the following:

  • Providing high quality care to adults withdrawing from substance use to improve their overall health and well-being.
  • Establishing and maintaining therapeutic and collaborative relationships with people served.
  • Organizing care activities for the individuals on the units.
  • Assisting counselors and nurses, & incorporating results of activities and programs into the individuals’ care.
  • Performing intakes, admissions and discharges, including obtaining and processing insurance information and responding appropriately to clinical emergencies.
  • Assisting doctors and nurses with exams and simple procedures.
  • Measuring and recording vital signs.
  • Transporting individuals to appointments and aftercare, when needed.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of individuals’ information.
  • Being flexible in response to staffing needs.

 

Who are we?

The Carlson Recovery Center in Springfield, MA is a 32-bed Acute Treatment Services program that serves those 18 years of age and older who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and are at the beginning stages of their recovery. A 24-hour multidisciplinary team provides acute treatment and detoxification services.

Job Requirements:

What are we looking for in a Recovery Specialist?

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Ability to understand, empathize and work with adults struggling with problem substance use and often mental health issues.
  • Competency in simple mathematics, reading comprehension, written and oral communications, following instructions, simple use of charts, reports and records.
  • Knowledge of developmental stages for adult population and applies developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing care for individuals served.
  • Knowledge and skill in assisting individuals served with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) credentials (preferred).
