Minimum Qualifications: 1. Possess a valid California Class “B” License with passenger transportation endorsement and a valid California Special Driver’s Certificate with current Medical Examiner’s Certificate. (GUSD willing to provide training for individuals that do not possess license and/or certificates). Automotive Service Excellence certification. 2. District First Aid and CPR training is required and will be provided. 3. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 6 months recent experience as a mechanic/bus driver or one year of recent experience as a commercial vehicle driver preferred. Two years experience in repair and maintenance of mechanic equipment with an emphasis on heavy duty vehicles. 4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 6. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

Brief Description of Position: 1. Plan and implement a preventative maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment. 2. Inspect, diagnose, overhaul, adjust and repair gas and diesel powered buses, trucks, automobiles and other power equipment. 3. Serve as reporting person for Bureau of Automobile Repair. 4. Maintain and provide for California Highway Patrol terminal inspections required record and reports. 5. Perform electrical work, painting, acetylene and arc welding and minor body repair on motorized equipment. 6. Perform work in adherence to safe work practices and procedures and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications as required by the California Highway Patrol and Vehicle Code. 7. See that all laws and regulations as set forth by the Education Code, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Board of Trustees are met. 8. Performs a daily safety check on the bus before driving. 9. Drives bus daily over designated routes, picking up and discharging students in accordance with schedules. 10. Transports students and instructors on special trips to various locations according to a planned schedule. 11. Maintains order among students on the bus and at bus stops insuring that the students comply with the pupil transportation rules and regulations. 12. Assists in maintaining the bus in a clean and safe operating condition.
