We are looking for an ambitious reporter with a passion for examining trends and issues that surround a team while aggressively seeking to break news on a competitive beat. This person's primary beat will be men's basketball but will assist on football and volleyball coverage and other projects as required.

The job will be based out of our Madison office, which is located a short drive from the state capitol. Madison offers plenty to keep you busy, from live theater and concerts to incredible biking and hiking opportunities.

You will be part of the state's largest reporting team covering Badgers athletics, one that encourages creativity and experimentation in how we tell stories, and there will be ample opportunities to collaborate with colleagues on ideas that interest you. The Associated Press Sports Editors recently ranked our digital product as one of the top 10 in the country in our size group.

The right candidate will:

• Be dependable and comfortable multitasking to handle multiple deadlines

• Demonstrate an eye for enterprising angles: Context and analysis are crucial to success in this position

• Offer a track record of breaking news on a beat and helping to drive online subscriptions

• Enjoy collaborating with others to tell bigger stories and tackle bigger issues

• Show an ability to create content beyond the written word
