GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Duties involve the direct daily supervision, security, and control of adult offenders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of high school diploma or GED certificate.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. (Must present proof of citizenship)

Must be at least 21 years of age and provide a copy of a state issues birth certificate.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must not have been terminated from any job in the past year.

Must be willing to work any shift and call back duty.

Must have the strength and agility to allow the employee to perform job duties, which would be found at the level of medium work (i.e. exerting 20-50 pounds of force) and including occasional very heavy work, (i.e. exerting in excess of 100 pounds.)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to manage the daily operations of an engineering section including assigning and reviewing work, solving problems, monitoring budget and funding, and interacting with other sections, divisions, and departments within and outside of LFUCG.


This classification works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in engineering; and, a minimum of eight (8) years of engineering experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

Professional Engineer License issued by the State of Kentucky; those with an equivalent license issued by another state, must obtain licensure in the State of Kentucky within the six (6) month probationary period.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages and advises staff and allocates workload accordingly
  • Reviews and approves plans and permit applications
  • Attends associated meetings, hearings, and conferences representing the divisions
  • Assists with preparation of funding and budget for projects, programs, and activities
  • Writes and reviews policies, procedures, project scopes and contract modifications
  • Meets with other engineers, surveyors, contracts, and attorneys to develop plans for infrastructure and monitors progress
  • Addresses inquiries and concerns expressed by citizens, Council, and other organizations or LFUCG divisions

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 NOTE: This position is located at the Material Recycling Facility (MRF)  

The purpose of Safety Specialist is to perform professional and technical work of substantial difficulty in planning, organizing, implementing, and conducting various safety training programs and in researching and making recommendations related to eliminating and controlling work place hazards presented throughout the Materials Recovery Facility.

Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four (4) years of college education in safety and loss control, engineering, occupational safety, safety administration, industrial hygiene, or related field; and, a minimum of six (6) years of experience in loss control, safety training, and accident investigation; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct daily inspections of the facility; Monitor and address safety deficiencies as observed.
  • Monitor use of personal proactive equipment.  Evaluate compliance and inform line leader when non-compliance is observed.
  • Identify areas where dust accumulations is greatest and ensure that scheduled cleaning is aware of observations.  Budget for maintenance deep cleaning.
  • Document safety concerns, accomplishments, and objectives; Communicate safety status to director and other entities as needed to advance overall safety program objectives.  Use the safety broadcast monitor to compliment efforts to communicate.
  • Provide safety training; Develop a 12 month training matrix. 
  • Assist with coordination of weekly training topics.
  • Implement preventative safety plan and a preventative maintenance plan for all equipment; Conduct basic equipment inspections to identify safety hazards such as with deficient guards, pinch points, harp edges, electrical issues, etc., process work request to repair as identified, audit and ensure that critical maintenance is being performed, and evaluate records.
  • Work to document and track near misses and address root cause as identified.
  • Conduct incident investigations; Investigate each incident and near miss to identify root cause and opportunities for improvement.
  • Track and schedule certification training required for personnel at the Materials Recovery Facility; Develop spreadsheet with names, titles, certification, expirations dates, and deadlines for training.
  • Develop a weather related work plan; Implement plan to mirror CAO Policy #14 and SOP’s.
  • Designs and provides specialized training and educational training materials on safety and loss control for personnel throughout the Materials Recovery Facility. 
  • Coordinates and administers safety training programs required by federal and state law or to manage detected risks.
  • Develops and recommends to supervisors new safety and loss control policies, codes, standards, and procedures for the Materials Recovery Facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education in a design, building technology or construction-related subject; and, a minimum of two (2) years of construction experience as a foreman or other position that requires reading and interpreting building plans and specifications; or, two (2) years of experience performing building design or drafting duties for an architect or engineer; or, an equivalent combination of directly related, as listed above, education, training, and experience.

  • Preferred but not required: experience in electronic document review using Adobe Pro DC; and, experience with online permitting and electronic inspection reporting.

  • "One- and Two- Family Dwelling Inspector" Certification within the six (6) month probationary period; however, applicant must have already passed the first of two required tests moudules (NCPCCI test module: 1A Building One- and Two- Family Dwelling or ICC test module: B1 Residential Building Inspector) in order to qualify.
