REPORTS TO:           Facilities Operations Administrator or designee 

WORK SCHEDULE:    Forty (40) hours/week SEASONAL SUMMER ONLY  

                         

DUTIES:                    

 

  1. Work under the direction of the Building Custodian as it pertains to the seasonal deep cleaning.
  2. Performs work such as deep cleaning floors, walls, windows, toilets, furniture, cleaning and shampooing of carpets; stripping, waxing, and buffing of tile floors and other associated work in preparation for the upcoming school year.
  3. Performs work requiring and is able to climb ladders perform heavy manual labor including emptying trash, shoveling, up-keep of outside grounds, changing light bulbs lifting and moving furniture, moving supplies and equipment and performs other related duties as requested.
  4. Provides customer service and directions for persons authorized to use the building.
  5. May secure designated areas when directed by the Building Custodian.
  6. Ensures nothing is removed from the building without permission from a supervisor, the School Principal, or Facilities Operations Administrator. Notifies the Building Custodian when needed.
  7. Reports vandalism, mechanical malfunctions, broken windows or doors, and other building damage to a supervisor and/or the School Principal.
  8. Provides assistance needed to maintain safe and effective building operations.
  9. Keeps grounds and entranceways free from litter and debris.
  10. Provides assistance needed to maintain security to the Building Custodian.
  11. Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.         
  13. The individual selected for this position may be assigned to other buildings to accommodate District needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Dependable with the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with the Principal, school staff, other City Departments, general public, and any others who have a reason to be in the building.
  2. Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relations skills.
  3. Demonstrates effective and reliable work habits, including regular and punctual attendance, and shows a willingness to learn new work skills.
  4. Possess a valid Driver’s License.
  5. Open to Springfield city residents only.
