 Position Summary/Essential Duties:

1.     In collaboration with the Research Finance director, provide leadership for the Research Finance Specialist core.  Manages daily operations of staff by ensuring adequate staffing and establishing goals/objectives to that body of work, while maintaining efficiency, accuracy and timeliness. 

2.     Manages research finance operations with the proper allocation of resources and adherence to billing requirements.  Responsible for the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and serves as primary backup to the Financial Director. 

3.     Manage the research coverage analysis and billing processes to ensure all activities are performed, documented and reported in compliance with internal SOPs, UH policies, sponsor guidelines and current applicable regulatory regulations.

4.     Oversee, implement and provide training for the research finance specialist team member(s).

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related healthcare field. MBA preferred.
  • Requires 5 years of successful research or finance administration experience.  Supervisor experience preferable.
  • Detail-oriented person with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks and manage time effectively. 
  • Strong leadership skills to train and supervise direct reports with effective experience in resource planning. 
  • Ability to work consistently and effectively as part of a high performance work team.   
  • Good judgment, initiative and problem solving skills.  Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to follow through and consistently demonstrate primary job responsibilities are current.
  • Knowledge of computer operations and demonstrated computer skills in a variety of software environments required (ie Excel, Access, Word, database applications)
