Summary

THIS POSITION IS TERM-LIMITED-TEMPORARY AND ANTICIPATED TO LAST THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2022.  THIS POSITION IS BENEFITS-ELIGIBLE.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the court's operations resulting in pending cases and increased workloads.  King County Superior Court is seeking two temporary IT Systems Specialists to provide support in this important work and to ensure access to justice.
 
The responsibilities of this position include developing and enhancing Microsoft 365 based solutions, with an emphasis on SharePoint Online, in the Government Cloud and performing complex systems analysis, design, planning, and implementation of Microsoft 365 based solutions.  The incumbent may oversee or coordinate with other groups, outside agencies, or consultant contracts for information technology services.  The incumbent will coordinate and provide training and instruction services for end users.

Work location:  The primary work location for this position is at the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle.  The incumbent may be required to work at other facilities as assigned.
 
 Work schedule and terms:  The workweek for this position is normally Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Variations in these hours may occur.  This at-will Term-Limited-Temporary position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not overtime-eligible.

Job Duties

The following duties are not intended to represent the entire functional capacity of the position at the task level.  
  • Identify, design, plan, and implement Microsoft 365 based solutions, especially SharePoint. Perform tests and evaluate Microsoft 365 based solutions.
  • Oversee and coordinate contact with other groups and outside agencies to provide information technology services; oversee on-going or major consultant contracts for IT services.
  • Participate in formulating IT policies and procedures.
  • Diagnose and resolve routine and advanced end user systems and application problems locally and remotely.
  • Plan and implement complex projects for in Microsoft 365.
  • Coordinate and provide training and instruction services for end users of Microsoft 365 software.
  • Monitor and analyze end user support services to assess effectiveness of services provided, identify and implement process improvements.
  • Follow up to ensure effective problem resolution for escalated/referred unresolved problems with appropriate specialized IT staff and/or vendors.
  • May be called upon to provide support for service issues or failures at any time.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree and three (3) years of related technical experience in IT systems support; or five (5) years of direct technical experience in IT systems support.
 
 Must be able to work in a team environment and have demonstrable troubleshooting and customer service skills.  Must have experience in configuring and maintaining the Microsoft 365 suite, specifically SharePoint Online and Teams.  Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Able to convey technical information to non-technical users.  Able write and understand technical documentation, including developing complex application requirements.  Must have an understanding of record retention policies for government entities.
 
 Advanced knowledge of:
  • Information technology systems, principles and techniques.
  • Specialized technologies such as applications, tools, systems and/or databases, configurations and commands, network protocols, desktop operating systems and applications. 
  • Local area networks and related systems, hardware and software installations and configuration, systems integration, wide-area network connectivity.
  • Audio/video conferencing, visual presentation systems, and digital recording systems.

Supplemental Information

Special requirements:  The ability to reliably travel throughout the County is required.  Finalists are subject to the Washington State Patrol criminal background check and a reference check.  Criminal background records are not automatically disqualifying.
