Community Services and Planning Program Manager - Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC), Pittsfield MA. This is a upper level position with a regional public agency.

The Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) is looking for a unique individual in a new upper level position as Community Services and Planning Program Manager.  This position would lead efforts to work with the cities and towns of Berkshire County Massachusetts to build collaborative relationships to improve the delivery of high quality municipal services in a cost-effective way. The primary duties include conducting program development and management, research, analysis, and technical assistance in the areas of service sharing, cooperative purchasing, local government service, and comprehensive planning.

Why work for the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission? 

 As a regional planning agency, BRPC serves as a voice for the 32 Berkshire County municipalities.  The county has no formal county government.  BRPC is a focal point for the discussion and evaluation of area‐wide, inter‐municipal problems and needs, as well as a nexus  for the development of collaborative solutions. While some shared service agreements are in place, most Berkshire municipalities provide their own services. Increasingly, however, BRPC’s assistance is requested to either assist in developing shared services conducted at the municipal level or through county‐wide efforts based at BRPC. With 22 full‐time employees, BRPC is small enough to allow someone to establish and maintain connections with all staff but large enough to provide expert support to other staff from land use, transportation, public health, energy and environment, community and economic development professional colleagues.

Minimum requirements:  Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Planning or equivalent field from an accredited college or university with at least five years of directly related increasingly responsible experience, preferably at the local or regional level, or equivalent combination of experience and 
training.  Dual Planning and Public Administration degrees preferred.  Candidate must have valid driver’s license and access to private vehicle.
