Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking two (2) or three (3)  Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Patient Services Representatives (Administrative Specialist II) to join our vibrant multi-disciplinary, and diverse team in the Community Health Services (CHS) Float Pool in the delivery of services to the county's most vulnerable people.
 
These full-time float positions will be assigned to various locations within King County. The representatives will work in Primary Care, Refugee Screening, Family Planning, WIC and COVID response programs within Public Health.

These TLT or Special Duty Assignments are anticipated to last for one year. The actual end date of assignments may be adjusted based on funding and program need.

Job Duties

The Patient Services Representatives are the initial contact a client has when they come into or call a Public Health Center. Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming all clients, providing exceptional customer service, which includes treating all people with respect and warmth
  • Utilizing language interpreters when appropriate to meet clients' needs
  • Identifying when triage by a healthcare professional is necessary, and quickly identifying potential emergency situations
  • Registering clients, requesting financial and insurance information, verifying insurance coverage, calculating fees, collecting payments, and scheduling appointments
  • Coordinating patient and information flow while maintaining patient confidentiality, and complying with Federal HIPAA laws
  • During and after client visits responsibilities include: accurately completing documentation and data information for billing in a timely fashion, and processing referrals for field staff
  • Other duties include using a variety of computer programs including: Epic (an electronic health record program), and Microsoft Office products
  • Ordering supplies, making copies, faxing, and other general office and clerical duties

Work location: These positions will be members of the Float Pool and will work out of various locations throughout King County, changing locations regularly to meet program needs.
 
Work schedule: The normal work schedule for these positions is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work outside of these hours may be required in order to meet clients’ needs, and may include Saturday hours. These positions are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime eligible.
