Job Description

A key member of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine Advancement team, the Digital Content Producer will manage and execute the production of content for the college’s digital platforms that promotes the college’s missions, academic and research programs, and hospitals, including the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg, the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, and the Comparative Oncology Research Center in Roanoke. The ideal candidate is a skilled storyteller who brings strong writing skills and technical expertise in producing photos and videos that encourage audience engagement and support organizational advancement efforts.
Reporting to the college’s communications and marketing director, the Digital Content Producer will develop story ideas, contact sources, manage video and photo production, including conceptualization; storyboarding/scripting; logistical coordination; technical production of videos, photos, and audio; and shooting, editing, and publishing videos for the web, social media, and other platforms. The producer will manage the planning and execution of a coordinated calendar of digital content, measure impact of digital content to improve engagement, manage and facilitate access to digital asset repositories, maintain videography and photography equipment, and recommend necessary equipment and software as needs change.

Occasional travel and evening and weekend work required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, videography, broadcast journalism, or related field; Portfolio of work that demonstrates experience in web production and/or multimedia journalism in a deadline- and results-driven environment; Writing and editing experience;
Experience and confidence using current video production equipment, including cameras, editing systems, lighting instruments, and sound-recording equipment; Experience staging and shooting high-quality photography; Experience with audio, video, photo editing, and publishing software; Demonstrated experience in producing engaging video and digital content for social media, websites, events, and email campaigns; Experience working with content management systems (CMS); Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, as well as independently; A commitment to promote inclusion and diversity in the work environment and college community

Preferred Qualifications

Significant progressive experience in communications and multimedia production in a university or healthcare setting; Experience with Adobe Experience Manager CMS; Experience with Kaltura video platform ; Experience overseeing a professional social media account that promotes engagement; Experience working with live-streaming video; Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and Mac-based systems and software
