Electronic Resources & Collections Assessment Librarian
The UMKC University Libraries are seeking a curious and collaborative person to join us as our Electronic Resources and Collections Assessment (ERCA) Librarian. The ERCA Librarian plays a crucial role in overseeing the evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of electronic resources at UMKC Libraries. This position involves a comprehensive approach to managing electronic resources, including assessment, setup, maintenance, user access and technology trends. Reporting to the Head of Collections and Acquisitions, the ERCA Librarian will ensure that the library's electronic resources are effectively integrated, accessible, and aligned with the academic needs of the university. The department is situated in the main library at a mid-sized university in the heart of Kansas City’s vibrant, socially-conscious, entrepreneurial community. This position is a 12-month, non-tenure track, ranked benefit-eligible faculty librarian appointment.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:¿
· Coordinate the setup and integration of new electronic resources into the library’s systems and platforms.
· Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of electronic resources to ensure continuous access and up-to-date content. This includes maintaining EBSCO profiles for EBSCOhost and EDS.
· Manage the library's knowledge bases (EBSCO Holdings Management and OCLC Collection Manager) to ensure accurate and comprehensive coverage of available resources.
· Manage licenses for electronic resources, ensuring compliance and optimal access conditions.
· Stay abreast of current trends and emerging technologies in electronic resources to enhance library services and resource accessibility.
· Maintain relationships with public facing library workers to ensure an ongoing awareness of emerging needs and opportunities related to electronic resources.
· Serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting access issues and technical problems with electronic resources. Resolution to these problems includes work with patrons, library workers, and provider technical support.
· Utilize a variety of tools to compile and maintain statistical data from a variety of sources with a focus on electronic resources to aid in collection development.
· Serves on UMKC Libraries’ faculty governance group and a variety of University Libraries, UMKC, and UM System committees, working groups, or teams.
· Pursues professional development and contributes to the profession via service and/or research.
