Description:
The position of Web Developer is available in the Administration Division. The Web Developer works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Web Technology.
Function: This position is part of the IT Web Administration Team dedicated to the management of design, development and implementation of college-wide Internet, academic and Intranet websites, publications and applications serving all college constituents.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Working regularly with executives, directors and managers of other college departments and organizations; including all Instructional divisions, Publications and Communications Design, Academic & Student Affairs, Administration, Continuing Education, the College Foundation, and Planning Marketing & Assessment;
• Working with other IT staff including Network Administration, Database Administration, the IT Help Center as well as other members of the Web Administration Team;
• Assisting with the design and development of web applications and services;
• Providing primary creative design and technical expertise in web application implementation and maintenance, and in related database design, implementation, and maintenance; managing design and development projects related to web applications development;
• Coordinating with other Web and IT staff to devise technical solutions for the integration of the web with college computing resources including XML data feeds; Ektron CMS.400 platform;
• Microsoft SharePoint; Blackboard LMS, Content, and Community Systems;
• MS SQL Server databases; Active Directory;
• LDAP directories; and the Ellucian Colleague system; assisting the Manager of Web Technology in coordinating with Network Administration staff to address issues of network and system infrastructure, integration and security;
• working collaboratively with other college departments and organizations under the supervision of the Manager of Web Technology to assist with the development and maintenance of the Microsoft SharePoint-based college intranet;
• assisting in maintaining the consistency, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of web‑based information resources; assisting in the implementation of college web standards and marketing initiatives;
• assisting in the training of faculty and staff in using web applications;
• assisting in the development of documentation for web applications and projects, including but not limited to: CMS documentation, style guides, usability and accessibility guides, manual and FAQs for web applications, project deliverables;
• performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Associate degree and 2 years of experience in web software development (ASP, ASP.NET, C#, Visual Studio.Net environment) or bachelor degree with demonstrated web software development coursework.
Preferred qualifications:
Working experience with database authoring and server tools (MS SQL Server); interfacing web sites to databases and Content Management; knowledge of SQL, XML and XSLT; Microsoft Windows Server operation, maintenance and automation techniques; web markup and programming languages (HTML and XHTML, JavaScript, XML, ASP and ASP.NET, C#, VBScript, Visual Basic, SQL, Java servlets); indexing tools and search engines; and MS Office desktop and server applications and components; familiarity with Ektron CMS.400 platform and Microsoft SharePoint server.
Salary: Grade 11 on the 12-month Salary Scale. Starting salary range of $49,917 - $67,017 with actual salary placement based on credentials. Includes an excellent benefit package.
