MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

PART-TIME POSITION

Description:

Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society is the nation's second-oldest honor society, founded at Lehigh University in 1885 to recognize those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.

Tau Beta Pi has collegiate chapters at 250 U.S. colleges and universities, 46 alumni chapters, and a total membership of nearly 610,000. The Bent of Tau Beta Pi, our quarterly magazine, is sent to 83,000 subscribers. The Headquarters is located in Knoxville at the University of Tennessee.

Tau Beta Pi is looking for a focused, hardworking, detail-oriented team member familiar with writing, editing, layout, social media, and graphic design to join our Marketing & Communications team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop social media strategy and manage accounts
  • Create and send bulk emails
  • Prepare and send press releases
  • Make routine website updates
  • Assist with writing, design and layout of quarterly digital publication
  • Prepare and update communications pieces including brochures, posters, displays and videos
  • Create graphics for publications, website and other printed materials
  • Other tasks as assigned

 

Required Skills:

  • Degree from a four-year college in communications, marketing, or a similar field, or completion of specialized training; plus two years experience in field. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Social media account management
  • Must have highly effective verbal and written communication skills 

Desired Skills:

  • Original graphic design experience
  • Dreamweaver (Adobe Creative Cloud), Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey, or similar tools
  • Strong problem solving and task organizational skills
  • Editing and publication experience a plus
  • Basic knowledge of honor societies

 

Additional Information:

The position is for 20-30 hours per week. The work schedule is flexible. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, but expected to be in the range of $16-22 per hour. Benefits include:
