Chair, Medical Education

Position Description:

The Chair of the Department of Medical Education at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences (COMLS) will demonstrate the highest level of personal and professional commitment, enthusiasm, integrity, and pride in the university, department and college and its values; aligning the vision for the department with the values of the COMLS through personal and institutional commitment and strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of the department’s missions.  The chair is responsible for providing leadership toward the achievement of the highest possible level of excellence in the education and research missions of the department and COMLS.  The chair is responsible for providing a vision, and strategic direction for the department.  The chair reports directly to the COMLS Dean.

Qualifications:

•  M.D., D.O., M.D./Ph.D. degree or equivalent
• Outstanding record of operational leadership
• Understanding of foundational and clinical medicine
• Faculty recruitment and mentoring experience
• Distinguished record of academic/clinical experience
• Research productivity
• Skills in managing educational activities within an medical academic environment
