Immediate opening for the following position: Highway Department Laborer/Transfer Station Attendant (full-time)

Full Time benefited position including health insurance, pension and paid leave (vacation, holiday and personal). Starting Salary $14.47 per hour.

Primary Purpose:
The Highway Department laborer / Transfer station Attendant is a multi-task position that will assist in all highway department related work as well as act as an attendant at the transfer station overseeing the disposal of yard waste.

Duties:
General landscaping and maintenance for the Town’s cemeteries and parks. (lawn mowing, weed whacking, tree trimming etc…) Assist with small repairs and maintenance on equipment and buildings. Operate a 1-ton truck, Snow plowing and sanding and assist in other functions of highway and sewer work. Act as transfer station attendant when not working on highway projects per order of the highway superintendent or foreman. Must be able to work overtime as needed

Supervision:
Works under the general direction of the Highway Superintendent or the Foreman.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, Motor vehicle license, Two to three years experience in related work.

Physical Requirements:
Moderate physical effort required to perform maintenance duties; Most work requires standing, walking, lifting and use of hands to operate tools and equipment. A pre-employment physical is required.
