POSITION SUMMARY:

The driver is responsible for the transportation of laboratory specimens, supplies and reports to and from St. Joseph’s Hospital Health

Center Department of Pathology and various physician offices. Performs LIS technical and clerical duties within the hospital setting.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High School graduate or equivalent. Must hold a valid New York State driver’s license. Must possess good driving skills and be

thoroughly knowledgeable of the greater Syracuse area.

Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of

expertise.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Maintain own automobile, which must be reliable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Exposure Class I. Dependent on weather as varies by season. Requires driving in all types of traffic and weather conditions.

Frequent contact with hazardous material in the form of patient specimens.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium work. Requires carrying, lifting, much walking and climbing.

WORK CONTACT GROUP:

All services, medical staff, network and physician office staff.
