EWU Center for Entrepreneurship

Associate Director (part-time hourly position, not to exceed 19 hours per week)

The Associate Director will work directly with and for the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, and will collaborate with other key roles in the center (e.g., Director of Outreach; Director of Technology Commercialization). This individual will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities of the center, for ensuring that events are well planned and executed, and for communicating with a variety of individuals and organizations. Additionally, this person will develop the processes for tracking student success and for staying in contact while in our program, and after graduation.

This position is an ideal opportunity for a professional who seeks a less-than-full time opportunity, but yet desires to make a meaningful contribution in an academic environment. This position is part-time, working not more than 19 hours per week; the position does "not" include health benefits. Compensation is on an hourly basis, and will be between $17-25 per hour, depending upon qualifications. The position may be negotiated as either a full year position, or as a cyclic 10 months per year position with July and August off.

The Associate Director will need to understand the plans of the center's Director, but also be able to work independently and problem solve effectively. The person hired will monitor the hours of student employees of the center, and will track center expenses for budgetary purposes and grant accountability. Additionally, the Associate Director will be responsible for managing files, plans, and databases of information.

The Associate Director will:

  • Oversee all details related to promoting student workshops, pitch competition events, the Celebration of Entrepreneurship, and other co-curricular offerings associated with EWU Entrepreneurship.
  • Maintain communication with community partners.
  • Develop a quarterly center for Entrepreneurship Newsletter for distribution.
  • Work with the center Director on web page development.
  • Manage social media communication.
  • Work with the center's Director to represent EWU Entrepreneurship in the community.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong professional communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and execute events.
  • Ability to work professionally and collegially with entrepreneurship program faculty and student employees, students, and other community partners.
  • Ability to represent the center for Entrepreneurship to numerous collaborative partners, students, and other members of the university community.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and reliably follow through on tasks.
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Willingness to learn, understand, and support the learning philosophy of the EWU Entrepreneurship Program.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Independent problem solving.
  • Experience working with teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related discipline (e.g., MBA)
  • Some understanding of budgets
  • Experience working with grants and/or grant based projects
  • Experience writing press releases
  • Experience with web page design and content management
  • Experience with social media marketing and use of Facebook for building connections-especially to EWU students
  • Experience with, or knowledge of entrepreneurship pitch/business plan competitions
  • Ability to work with, develop, and maintain databases.
  • Ability to promote the entrepreneurship program and center co-curricular activities
  • Knowledge of entrepreneurship
  • Experience recommending and leading new initiatives
