This position will perform basic skills using a variety of heavy construction equipment. Tasks include, but not limited to; excavating for water and sewer installations and repairs, and meter installations: Operating heavy equipment in rights-of-way next to moving traffic.  Qualified applicants must be experienced and skilled in tasks related to utility construction and general maintenance.  This position will assists with snow removal operations.

Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as a minimum of four year’s related construction experience.

Special Requirements
A valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License – Class B and an excellent driving record are required.
Be on call for after hour emergencies.  
Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination.

Skilled, with the ability to operate heavy equipment and vehicles.  Have knowledge of standard construction practices and principles; ability to install and repair water and sewer lines; thorough knowledge of VDOT work zone requirements and the ability to safely work in and around the roadway; skill in the use of various hand tools and construction equipment; ability to operate a dump truck with snow plow during snow removal operations

Qualified applicants must possess each of the following: the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, the ability to work in a crouched position for extended periods of time, the ability to work outside in varying weather conditions, and the ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees.
