Lower School Substitute Teacher
The substitute teacher is responsible for operating a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment under the direction of the co-teacher/lead teacher for the department/grade level while the regular teacher is absent. The substitute teacher must effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students, strictly following the regular teacher's lesson plans and adhering to all district and school policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER:
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent.
- Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, curriculum objectives, classroom management, and instructional strategies.
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment; take all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials.
- Communicate clearly and effectively to students, faculty, and staff.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and serious discipline problems to school administration as soon as possible.

Head Cross Country Coach/Program Director
Webb School of Knoxville is a PreK – 12th grade independent preparatory school located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Enrollment at the school is currently 1077. Athletics play an integral role in the Webb School experience. They are an extension of our classrooms where dynamic growth transpires; where our students continue to learn about hard work, perseverance, and dedication toward a goal. They are about supporting and sacrificing for a team; about competing with character to bring out the best in yourself, your teammates, and your opponents; and about winning and losing with humility. It’s all about the challenge – one that we enthusiastically embrace.
Our emphasis is on chasing excellence in every sport we offer. We have a proud history of growing successful teams that compete at advanced levels. Webb School boasts 76 state championships – 40 in girls, 36 in boys – in 14 different sports. Over 75% of our students in grades 7 through 12 participate in at least one athletic team. Spartan graduates have gone on to play at colleges and universities across the nation, as well as professionally. Our seasoned coaching staff, which includes over 80 coaching positions, and our outstanding facilities are cornerstones of a storied athletics tradition.
Our facilities are impressive. We have three gyms, 4 fields, 3 indoor tennis courts, football stadium and turf football and lacrosse field, track, and running course. In the fall of 2023, we will be adding to our athletic facilities a new softball complex, indoor hitting and pitching facility, turf lacrosse field, and Elite Fitness and Training Center which will include an indoor turf field, weight room, cardio mezzanine, golf simulator, fitness/yoga studio, classroom and team meeting room, and personal fitness trainers.
Job Summary
The Head Cross Country Coach/Program Director is responsible for shaping and guiding all aspects of the program, grades 6-12, and reports directly to the Director of Athletics. The head coach must be a dynamic, innovative, and inspirational leader with a demonstrated commitment and passion for working with young people while collaborating effectively with parents, faculty, administration, and colleagues. He/she will emphasize the importance of a positive team culture, demonstrate a winning attitude, model exceptional sportsmanship, and will be a skilled teacher of fundamentals, technique, and character. He/she will support the school’s mission in providing opportunities for each student to develop their full potential academically, socially, and physically.
**This is a part-time, stipend position. Full-time faculty/staff positions maybe available**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and implement the teaching of techniques, strategies, and proper conditioning, including the off-season
- Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship; compile and maintain accurate performance statistics and records; utilize athletic administration curriculum
- Work well with other sports and school programming to allow for students pursuing appropriately balanced multi-sport/activity opportunities
- Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program; provide for the safety by inspecting facilities/equipment and being aware of environmental conditions
- Issue, collect, inventory, store equipment and uniforms consistent with department guidelines in a timely manner. Adhere to TSSAA uniform regulations
- Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with the entire Webb community
- Maintain and appropriately allocate a budget for the program
- Assist in the college recruitment process
- Coordinate, manage, develop, and evaluate all members of the coaching staff throughout the program
- Facilitate coaches, team, and parent meetings
- Comply with the rules, expectations and regulations of Webb and the TSSAA
- Timely and consistent communication of scheduling logistics throughout the school year and enforcement of all team and school policies relating to all activities according to the employee and athletic department handbook
- Actively participate in admission events and contribute to Camp Webb programming
- Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:
- Embraces and embodies Webb School’s purposefully stated mission statement
- Has extensive knowledge and successful experience coaching at the club, high school and/or intercollegiate level, with preference given to those who have served as a head coach
- Takes the initiative and possesses the energy needed to energize, lead and grow an athletic program in a K-12, coed independent school environment
- Familiarity with TSSAA policies and procedures preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate-level degree preferred

Assistant Varsity and JV Girls Volleyball Coach
Purpose: Webb School of Knoxville is looking for a highly qualified Assistant Varsity and JV Girls Volleyball Coach for the fall of 2024 (August 1 st ). Successful candidates possess a strong volleyball background with an energetic approach to teaching and mentoring young athletes. Candidates must attend all practices and competitions and manage aspects of the program assigned by the program director.
- Previous volleyball coaching experience required (school or club)
- Ability to successfully communicate with student-athletes, parents and members of the Webb athletic department
- Strong leadership and coaching presence
- Positively represent Webb School, along with appropriate supervision at all times
- Be on time to all required coaching responsibilities.

Groundskeeper
Now hiring a full-time groundskeeper to join our grounds team at Webb School of Knoxville. Duties include mowing, mulching, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance as well as special events set-up. Landscape, irrigation, and equipment maintenance experience are a plus. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a background check. Hours are typically 7:30a.m. - 4:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Payroll and Student Billing Associate
- Coordinate student billing, preparing tuition bills and sending monthly tuition statements
- Follow-up with families regarding past due balances or missed payments
- Accurately and efficiently enter data related to payroll and receivables into the accounting system
- Process enrollment contracts and deposits, tracking returned contracts in coordination with admissions
- Act as a business office contact for families, answering questions and providing guidance related to payment plans
- Reconcile all payroll and accounts receivable, entering information into the accounting system and generating reports for the Controller to review
- Reconcile benefits invoices with payroll withholdings
- Process Monthly and Bi-Weekly Payroll(s)
- Send new employees benefit information and perform necessary on-boarding processes for payroll and benefits
- Work with Controller to ensure proper contributions being made to retirement plan and Health Savings Accounts
- Work with CFO to create annual employee agreements
- Other duties as assigned
- Experience as a bookkeeper or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
- Experience working in a school environment strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate effective, professional relationships with students and families, faculty and staff

Assistant Director of Development
- Creation & implementation of a comprehensive, year round plan for annual giving that includes strategy, messaging, goals, and a financial budget that achieves an immediate yearly goal as well as supporting future goals in alignment with our strategic plan.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, and motivating Annual Giving/Webb Fund volunteers regarding Webb Fund outreach, progress, status of asks, and stewardship opportunities.
- Cultivating relationships with alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents to encourage their financial support and personal involvement with the school.
- Responsible for securing major gifts for school capital projects, current endowments, and establishment of new endowments that will support and grow school programming.
- Leadership of a robust and meaningful alumni association that connects alumni with the school and supports their friendship from their time at Webb. Responsible for all alumni committees, meetings, events, and class reunions.
- Advising our alumni, grandparents, and friends of the school on estate planning and other planned giving tactics that will help them transform the school through their philanthropy.
- Responsible for school wide special events including Webbfest, Art Extravaganza, Grandparent Day, and others to be determined.
- Provide organizational support for Webb’s PAC and other parent volunteer organizations.
- This Assistant Director Position will have duties and responsibilities that support the core responsibilities of the Development Department.

Lower School Full-Time Teaching Assistant
Webb School of Knoxville's Lower School is seeking a full-time assistant teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Lower School aims to provide a solid academic program within a positive and nurturing educational environment.
Candidates must relate well to children and adults and enjoy working in a supporting role, realizing their contributions are meaningful and essential to the school community. Additionally, applicants should desire and be able to work collaboratively as a team and independently.
Education and Work Experience:
An associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred, as is one to two years of related experience and training in working with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Functions:
A teaching assistant should be actively engaged in the classroom and school community while supporting the teacher in the classroom's ongoing tasks. Upper School Teacher of Social Studies
For the 2024-2025 academic year, Webb School of Knoxville seeks an innovative, experienced social studies instructor for students in grades 9-12. The successful candidate will have experience teaching both Ancient World History (first humans to 1300 CE) and Modern World History (1200 to the present). In addition, interest in teaching economics and/or United States
History in the future will be beneficial.
He or she must be adept in the instruction of writing and appreciate the role that document analysis and critical thinking have in a robust social studies curriculum as well as be dynamic in his/her instructional approach, skilled in differentiation, and capable of collaborating with peers across disciplines. Additionally, he or she must be knowledgeable in inquiry and
project-based pedagogy, and able to meet the needs of all learners.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital as relationships are the cornerstone to student success and this individual must be able to build strong, trusting relationships with all community stakeholders; students, colleagues, and parents.
