The University of Charleston is seeking an Data Analytics Lab Director. We are seeking from data science professionals with the vision and entrepreneurial spirit to serve as the Founding Director of a strategic initiative to establish data analytics as a cornerstone of the institution's national reputation for innovation in higher education. The Data Analytics Lab Director position is funded by a five-year grant to build a Data Analytics Lab to support the development of innovative technology-based programs and community outreach efforts.

Primary Duties

• Serve as the chief strategist for promoting the integration of data analytics into new and existing academic programs in business, the health sciences, pharmacy, the natural sciences and other disciplines
• Collaborate with the University’s new President, faculty and staff to identify opportunities to utilize data analytics as a tool for promoting community partnerships in the Charleston area and throughout the region
• Supervise the recruitment of additional faculty to support the newly formed Department of Data Analytics and Technology and future technology-based initiatives
• Other duties assigned

Desired Qualifications

• Dynamic leader with excellent communication skills
• Minimum of a master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, statistics or mathematics
• Minimum of five years faculty/administrative experience in the field of data analytics or cognate discipline
• Documented record of leading interdisciplinary teams to serve the needs of internal and external stakeholders
• Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in successful project management
• Familiarity with Watson Analytics is a plus
