Maintenance Technician II

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance Technician II, under the direction of the General Manager, works to help the Building Services Department meet operational and budget objectives. Mans the receiving dock unloading and logging deliveries of pre-printed materials and newsprint utilizing a pallet jack, forklift and clamp truck. Moves materials between main building and warehouse. Assists with building inspections from local utilities, security and safety companies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required with five years of related experience preferred. Vocational courses in equipment maintenance preferred with five years of experience in building facility environment desirable.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
1. Ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate the department’s work and effectively communicate with staff.
2. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and organize workload.
3. Ability to operate forklift and clamp truck is required.
4. Must be computer / technology literate.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a good driving record, valid driver’s license, and provide proof of and maintain the minimum auto liability insurance required by state law. Must be able to do moderate to strenuous physical tasks including heavy lifting. Basic computer skills to include word processing and Excel.
SAFETY/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- When grinding, buffing,
or cutting metals or other materials, safety glasses or a face shield is
required. - Proper PPE is required
when using equipment, hand tools and solvents or other hazardous liquids.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Perform daily tasks
assigned by the General Manager - Operate
forklift and clamp truck to load and unload trucks and move material
between warehouse and main facility - Evaluate, repair and
maintain plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in the building - Communicate with General
Manager about any work that requires outside expert assistance - Perform exterior
maintenance to the facility including lawn, landscape, and snow removal as
needed. - Work with tools and
supplies necessary to complete projects - Assist maintaining
corporate safety procedures at all times and comply with access control
regulations - Evacuate building in the
event of an emergency - Maintain fire, carbon
monoxide, smoke and other safety systems within the structure
