This position is in the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) of DCHS. The Peer Bridger Supervisor PPM III manages the implementation of the King County Peer Bridger program and supports the continuing efforts to transform the King County Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organization (BH-ASO) system to incorporate recovery centered practices as a framework for all service delivery. This position also promotes further development of and training for the Peer support specialist workforce, in coordination with the BH-ASO Recovery Specialist.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not eligible for overtime. Typical hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.

Job Duties

  • Oversee the current King County Peer Bridger program, Peer Navigator, and develop and implement expansion of Peer Bridger programs in King County.
  • Coordinate and/or provide training, consultation, and coaching to assure that the Peer Bridger model and trauma informed care approaches are implemented with adherence to national best practice standards.
  • Develop and negotiate service contracts with providers of Peer Bridger contracts.
  • Facilitate and support the activities of the Peer Bridger quality operations team, comprised of the Peer Bridger staff and supervisors from all Peer Bridger programs.
  • Provide Clinical Supervision to King County Peer Bridger staff.
  • Coordinate with the BH-ASO System Performance Evaluation section's project evaluators and the contract management section to ensure comprehensive monitoring, oversight and evaluation of the Peer Bridger programs.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures for the Peer Bridger program, consistent with any applicable county, state and federal requirements.
  • Develop and submit status reports to BH-ASO Management Team and other advisory or stakeholder groups, as assigned.
  • Develop all reports related to the Peer Bridger programs as required by the funding source (e.g., MIDD, Medicaid, grants, etc.).
  • Coordinate with the BH-ASO Recovery Specialist and Parent Support Specialist, as well as other BH-ASO staff, to promote further development of and training for the Peer support specialist workforce.
  • Participate in BH-ASO clinical services, quality management and other work groups as assigned.
  • Supervise the King County BH-ASO Peer Navigator.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.  

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  1. A combination of life experience, work experience, and/or education (advanced degree in social work, psychology or another relevant field) that equips the candidate to provide clinical supervision, credibly set strategic direction, work with community partners, and lead a team in providing Recovery centered behavior health services and supports.
  2. Expert knowledge of Peer Bridger programs.
  3. Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervisory experience.
  4. Expert knowledge of behavioral health recovery principles and practices.
  5. Demonstrated ability and work experience to develop program/policy recommendations for BHRD management staff related to the advancement of the Peer Bridger program and trauma informed care.
  6. Demonstrated experience working with Peer support and/or consumer advocacy organizations.
  7. Ability to support behavioral health agencies in the ongoing development of a trauma-informed, recovery and resiliency orientation.
  8. Demonstrated ability to provide presentations, trainings, and/or technical assistance to groups.
  9. Knowledge of and experience providing services for persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  10. Ability to develop working relationships within BHRD and DCHS, and with providers and other stakeholders.
  11. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  12. Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  13. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  14. Ability to write complex analytical or program evaluation reports.
  15. Ability to manage necessary activities within a budget.
  16. Demonstrated proficiency in 2010 Microsoft Office Suite and the internet.
  17. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel throughout the county in a timely manner.
Desired:  Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with services provided in the Washington State public behavioral health treatment system.
