We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursing, Personal Health Services Supervisor (PHSS) in our Downtown Seattle Public Health Center.  This is a great professional development opportunity for a current Charge Registered Nurse that is ready to move to supervision.
   
We're interested in individuals who are representative of the diverse population we serve. This is an opportunity to lead an amazing multi-disciplinary team whose passion is to support our community through Primary Care, Immunization, Refugee Clinic and to work as a partner with the Swedish Residency Program.  You'll have overall responsibility for the hiring and daily supervision of a team that may include Public Health Nurses, Registered Nurses, Registered Dieticians, Medical Assistants, Social Workers, and Community Health Workers.  In addition, you will be a key member of a unified leadership team to provide the highest quality of integrated care for our clients.

Job Duties

  • Direct supervision of the staff assigned to services and programs at a Public Health Center to include: hiring, performance evaluations, training, counseling, team building and discipline of staff
  • Lead program planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation
  • Guide staff and lead activities at Public Health Centers, satellite clinics, and other community locations
  • Work collaboratively with the community and other agencies to assess the public's needs, develop program goals and objectives 
  • Monitor budgets for assigned programs
  • Provide backup to other supervisors as needed within Downtown Public Health Clinic
  • Participate in the Department Quality Improvement efforts 
  • Coordinate schedules for Swedish Residents, including onboarding of new residents each year and all work associated to closing out work as they complete their residency. 
  • Perform duties as assigned 

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Qualification, Knowledge, Experience:

  • Advanced training in nursing administration or public health, or comparable experience
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel supervision, and management techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to hold people accountable and give useful feedback
  • Knowledge of program development, evaluation techniques, and Quality Improvement processes
  • Knowledge of occupational health, handling of hazards, and safety principles
  • Skilled in interviewing techniques and principles
  • Previous experience providing guidance in a community based program, and/or community health nursing experience desired
  • Knowledge of Buprenorphine and/or Substance Abuse
  • Ability to travel between sites on a regular basis
  • Strong commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impacts of trauma and trauma-informed treatment interventions
  • Advanced training in nursing administration or public health, or comparable experience 
  • Professional experience in personnel supervision, management techniques, and fostering a collaborative and highly effective team environment
  • Knowledge of program development, evaluation techniques, quality improvement processes, and implementation of innovative solutions to service delivery
  • Knowledge of occupational health, handling of hazards, and safety principles
  • Knowledge of and experience in workflows, job aides, and Electric Health Patient Record (EPIC) training. 
  • Skilled in coordinating teams with multi-disciplinary staff
  • Knowledge of general government principles, procedures, relevant agencies, community service providers and programs, and other related systems
  • Demonstrated competency using MS Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited school 
  • Washington State Registered Nurse License in good standing.
  • Proof of current BLS CPR for Healthcare Providers (Attach if current)
  • Washington State Driver’s License of ability to travel within designated territory.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
  • Bilingual and/or Bicultural
  • Professional experience, training, or knowledge of mental health, substance use disorders (SUD), medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), low barrier medical care, and harm-reduction
  • Experience providing guidance in a community-based program
  • Skill in working effectively with diverse individuals and populations 
  • Ability to work on several projects/tasks simultaneously

Work Location: Downtown Seattle Public Health located at  2124 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121. This position will require travel to other sites within the Public Health System as needed. 

Work Location & Schedule: Downtown Public Health is located at 2124 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121. This is a fully benefited 1.0 FTE (SDP/TLT), 1-year assignment. Hours worked will fall within Downtown Public Health's normal business hours, which are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This position will require travel to other sites within the Public Health System as needed. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime.
