EBSCO Capital is growing and looking for a new Analyst to join the team! The Analyst is a key position within a growing corporate development and captive private equity group in a dynamic, international, family-owned business in Birmingham, Alabama.  The position will have broad responsibilities that span from deal flow development to acquisition execution to acquisition integration.  The position will have exposure to senior executives within the Company as well as the key managers of its diversified portfolio of companies.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Involvement in all aspects of the acquisition process for new platforms and strategic acquisitions including deal sourcing, analysis, diligence, and execution.
  • Perform industry, business, and competitor research
  • Assist business units in identifying and contacting target companies
  • Evaluation and vetting of acquisition targets
  • Negotiate non-disclosure agreements and confidentiality agreements
  • Create financial models, valuation analysis, and internal memos
  • Conduct due diligence of potential acquisition opportunities
  • Assist with integration planning and execution
  • Provide transaction support throughout the entire deal process
  • Monitoring and reporting of acquisition performance
  • Assist with deal sourcing and business development activities
  • Execute marketing initiatives for business broker and investment banking relationships
  • Maintain deal flow database
  • Assist with existing portfolio monitoring
  • Monitor acquired portfolio companies and industry segments
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis including identification of key industry trends, competitive factors and target companies within favored industries
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses and other special projects

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or Economics)
  • 1+  years of experience in one of the following fields: private equity, investment banking, corporate development, M&A transaction advisory services (quality of earning analysis, valuation, etc.), or restructuring advisory services

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Outstanding financial accounting, financial modeling, and financial statement analysis skills
  • CFA / CFA in process or MBA preferred.
  • Ability to create leveraged buyout and discounted cash flow models from scratch
  • Keen understanding of Return on Invested Capital (“ROIC”) concepts and drivers
  • Ability to create operational models from scratch including financial and non-financial metrics that drive revenue and expenses, as well as, profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statement components
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, writing and presentation skills – must be able to communicate complex and broad subjects in a cogent and concise manner Ability to travel as needed
  • Thorough competency in Microsoft Excel (expert), Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated record of achievement
