Our Cardiac Stress Lab is part of our Echocardiography department that specializes in the diagnosis of cardiac abnormalities via stress test and TEE procedures. The stress testing is performed by an RN under direct supervision from credentialed cardiologists. Procedures are performed on both inpatient and outpatient populations. Routine testing is performed during the hours of 0730-1600 Monday through Friday and 0700-1200 on Saturday and Sunday.

What you will do:

  • Monitor and assist with stress Lab and echo procedures, deliver care modalities including care of critically ill patients while in the lab.
  • Moderate sedation administration and monitoring with TEE procedures.
  • Collaborative team approach, coordinate and direct care with physicians, LPN, Cardiac sonographers and RNs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York. Graduate Nurses or RN’s with less than 1 year of experience please apply to the GN residency postings.
  • Minimum of 1-year nursing experience, cardiology preferred.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Participates in orientation, continuing education to stay current with practice and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
  • National certification is promoted and supported for clinical ladder growth.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
