General Description
The Assistant Director of Instructional Technology assists the Director of Instructional Design with the administration, technical support, and use of the Learning Management System, Canvas; collaborates with the Distance Education staff to assist with local provisioning applications, system configuration, and product updates (software and hardware); provides administrative support, training, and troubleshooting of learning technologies integrated with Canvas and located at the Innovation Center; and generates and analyzes
LMS
and other data reports regularly. In addition, responsibilities include collaboration with faculty to integrate technology into the curriculum through the use of the Innovation and Coding Centers and AI/AR/VR tools.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
· Maintains Learning Management System for end users by performing day-to-day activities including, but not limited to, creating courses and user accounts,

integration/ configuration, developing/launching Class Climate surveys, verifying information, and ensuring operation status.
· Performs hardware, software, and network troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair within the scope of successful delivery to all users.
· Ensures all major systems are synchronized with the Learning Management System, notably, Colleague.
· Supports instructors and administrative staff to resolve issues arising from supported education technologies.
· Supports and trains instructors and administrative staff in emerging technologies.
· Creates and leads testing of new instructional software and hardware.
· Implements best practices related to technology use with all online, remote live, and traditional courses based on research, and state/national standards.
· Provides technical support to Distance Education staff for tools such as: Webex, Dropout Detective, Instructor Insight, Proctortrack, Respondus Lockdown Browser, Unicheck, etc.
· Develops training and learning materials for users to support the integration of technology into the curriculum and the use of the Innovation Center and Coding Center.

· Collaborates with the Distance Education staff to create, coordinate, and facilitate events and training that will engage faculty in the adoption and use of technology.
· Assists with building instructional modules using technology-enhanced instructional tools in both synchronous and asynchronous modalities.
· Oversees standard and ad-hoc reporting by collecting, analyzing, and distributing data.
· Assist in researching, developing, and documenting technical procedures for course operations.
· Participates in relevant college committees, and meetings.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Instructional Technology,
CIS
,
MIS
, or related field required or master’s degree with related experience to demonstrate core competencies.

Qualifications: 

· A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in providing technical support for distance learning and the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.
· Back-end administrative Learning Management System experience required, preferably Canvas.
· Proficiency in
CSS
, html, Python, Unix, Linux, and related computer programming languages, email and web servers, storage & networking, and relational databases, such as MySQL or Oracle, required.
· Professional experience and a strong understanding of education and emerging technologies, such as AI/AR/VR tools, Kaltura, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Unicheck, Proctortrack, and Respondus Lockdown Browser to support distance learning.
Experience
· Experience working in a higher education environment.
· Experience with project and service management.
· Experience in online course design and programming desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
· This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
· Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
· Some travel required.
