General Description
The Respiratory Care Laboratory Instructor will support the course instruction that is conducted by the full-time and adjunct faculty members.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Respiratory Care Laboratory Instructor include, but is not limited, to: • Assisting with College lab instruction in assigned courses. • Demonstration of appropriate psychomotor skills. • Supervision of students’ skill practice. • Correction of inaccurate or unsafe skill performance by students. • Evaluation of critical skill performance. • Reporting to course faculty on student performance. • Assisting with proper equipment and supply maintenance. · Participate in semester end clinical and laboratory proficiency testing. · Document student progress and competency using the Trajecsys Clinical Management Tracking software; maintain privacy of all passwords and student information. Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements
• Minimum of Associate’s degree in Respiratory Care required. • Active NJ license in the Respiratory Care required. • Must meet State and/or National guidelines for program implementation in the discipline. • Current BLS certification required.
Experience
• 3 years previous experience in clinical, laboratory or classroom settings and working with students.
Competencies and Skills Required
• Be able to meet weekly course objectives, such as skill performance testing. • Be able to enter student competency evaluations into Trajecys evaluation system or related evaluation system.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. • Work may require long periods of standing. • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. • Some travel required.

Terms of Employment
Part-time hours not to exceed 25 per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Mandatory overtime is required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Position may be required to work at any campus at any time. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
