General Description
In conjunction with appropriate members of the CEWD test, diagnose, organize, schedule and instruct in ESL.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
•Administers appropriate assessment instruments. Assists in making interpretations and recommendations from diagnostic activities, in consultation with the client.

•Prescribes from individual employability plans and contributes to monthly evaluations of progress in program, makes recommendations and/or adaptation for program adjustment.

•Contributes to curriculum development through design of modular learning packets attuned to learning level objectives.

•Provides ESL instruction appropriate to individual and group’s needs.

•Participates in the general activities of the instructional unit, including personal development, program planning, and center-related events.

•Accepts all other assignments which help CEWD realize contractual goals.

•Respond to all program requests.

•Travel to all campuses and satellite locations as needed.

•Other duties as assigned by unit supervisor and CEWD administration.

•At all times exercise professionalism and confidentiality with staff and students.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Teachers Certification preferred.
Experience
•Relevant instructional experience or equivalent.

•Prior experience with underserved population a plus.
Competencies and Skills Required
•Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.

•Ability to work with persons of varied education, experience, social and economic backgrounds.

•Ability to remain discreet with student and staff information.

•Commitment to service and a diverse student population.

•Ability to meet deadlines.

•Ability and willingness to travel to other campuses, CEWD satellites and/or other satellites assigned as needed.

•Flexibility of schedule.

•Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
•This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

•Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

•No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

•Some travel required.

Terms of Employment
Flexible schedule to meet department needs.Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Instructors needed on the Elizabeth, Cranford and Plainfield Campuses.

o DAY: 8:30 TO 2:00 (20 hours), (4 days a week)
o DAY: 9:00 TO 12:00 (12 hours), (4 days a week)
o EVENINGS: 5:30 TO 8:30 (2 or 4 evenings per week)

Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.

Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant funding.
