ATSS Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a direct position with our client in Panama City, FL. 

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US, a degreed mechanical engineer, and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in shipbuilding.  Great career opportunity to join a thriving shipbuilding company with a blend of government and commercial projects!  

Job Description:Responsible for design calculations and drawing development as it pertains to each vessel.
Coordinate updates/changes with affected Departments, Crafts and Project Managers.
Provide engineering support for the design and development of marine vessels.
Function as a project engineer, design and oversee design for the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs.
Review designs and calculations to find potential construction issues, interacting with the craft when issues arise and using engineering knowledge and experience to properly research or calculate the correct solutions.
Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Inspect, evaluate, and arrange field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
This position is for a person who desires general exposure to all phases of shipbuilding.
Qualifications:Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer with 3 – 5 years’ experience in ship design, construction, and repair of marine vessels desired; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Requires working knowledge of ABS Rules and other Classification Societies.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, 3D Modeling Software and extensive working knowledge with 3D environment required.
Requires excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
Requires a strong working knowledge of marine piping, HVAC Systems and their proper functions.
Working knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) desired.
